Just after Endgame, the internet was hyped for Avengers 5 with Galactus as it’s antagonist. But Marvel didn’t announce anything about the 5th installment until recently a Disney trademark filing spilled all the beans which Marvel Studios had been cooking for so long.
Disney filed 5 new trademarks with The European Union for marketing purposes.
They include:
- Avengers: Secret Wars
- Avengers: The Kang Dynasty
- Multiverse Saga
- Captain America: New World Order
- Thunderbolts
Does this mean that Avengers 5 is titled The Kang Dynasty?
Phase 4 has in many ways pointed out that at some point a multiversal war may break out. This gave spark to the Secret Wars title for Avengers 5. Since then there has been a lot of hype around this title. Even The Russo Brothers were asked about this.
This is what they said to Deadline:
“The one series that we adored growing up was Secret Wars. It’s incredibly ambitious. It would be bigger than Infinity War and Endgame. But it’s a massive undertaking. Those two movies were very hard to make. So trying to imagine making another two movies even bigger than those two? We’re going to have to sleep on that.”
Disney filing these titles just during SDCC 2022 make it obvious that Avengers 5 is titled The Kang Dynasty. But it also reveals titles for Avengers 6 and the upcoming Captain America movie starring Sam Wilson as Captain America.
What does the title ‘Multiverse Saga’ mean?
Multiverse Saga was the term for the arc between WandaVision, Spiderman: No Way Home and Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness.
But Disney just made this official by filing a trademark for this term. What this also means is that Marvel Studios will dive deeper and explore the multiverse with more of its projects.
Phase 4 projects have been on and off. A majority of its project have been completely terrible in terms of character development and script. Thor: Love and Thunder completely derails off the track and doesn’t contribute anywhere in taking MCU ahead.
The only Phase 4 project that was at par with The Infinity Saga was Loki. Loki series opened the doors to multiverse, Spiderman: No Way Home confirmed this and Doctor Strange 2 explored the threats of multiversal travel. Here’s how the future of Multiverse looks currently:
Antman and The Wasp: Quantumania will introduce Kang who will do something major (maybe like killing Antman) which further threatens the multiverse. The end of this movie will be loosely connected to Loki Season 2 (currently in works). Marvel Studios has already confirmed that Jonathan Majors will be seen playing a lot of variants of Kang. Many of these variants will also fight among themselves for ruling the multiverse.
But with Disney filing the trademarks for Avengers projects, its likely that Avengers: Secret Wars and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will establish Kang as the villain much like Thanos.
It’s still not sure if Marvel is going to announce anything about this. Kevin Feige may be saving all of this for Disney’s D23 expo in September.
